Live dates! - 22 Jan 2010
Unfortunately, the gig in Groningen has been cancelled.
After a few months of writing and recording songs it's time to go on stage again, yay!
This sunday we'll be playing at the 3voor12/amsterdam 5-year anniversary party at Bitterzoet, Amsterdam. A great line-up with a.o. Awkward I and Go Back to the Zoo.
You can find us in Groningen two weeks later, where we'll play on a nice indie-musicnight.
Hope to see you soon!
In the studio... - 13 Nov 2009
...which is our own bunker! Albatros Studio would be a good name aswell...we're still brainstorming on that; ideas anyone?
So we are recording 5 new songs, yay! They have weird titles like 'wrong shoes' 'up till dawn' and 'forest'. Curious? You can check some pics of our sessions on Hyves, more updates coming up soon!
Yes we can be autumny again - 29 Sep 2009
After a nice gig at sunny festival In Vervoering [photo's!] and a cozy show with The Black Atlantic (beautiful debut album!) and Windmill in Utrecht, we are ready to say goodbye to summer now. So we are back in our dark rehearsal-bunker, writing new songs for rainy days! But Thomas' happy drumming keeps us warm, no need to sit down with these new tunes. We'll keep you updated.
And this might interest you: check out what Chris is doing with his bro and friends in Novack!
Hello again! - 26 Aug 2009
Yes the summer has been good for us this year! France, Italy, Austria, Germany, England... it's almost like we did a Europe-tour. But not with the four of us together - doh! That happens again next Sunday Aug. 30, Lepelenburgpark in Utrecht: Festival In Vervoering. Nice and cozy festival in the park.
While we were enjoying or cocktails on sunny beaches Matthijs van de Ven was in his room editing the videos for his Onder Invloed-project: our session is online now! See & hear us play Radiohead, The Notwist & Toman. Are we under influence?
Summer in our city - 30 Jun 2009
So to celebrate summer we invited Novack, 50 people and 13 crates of Hertog Jan to our rehearsal room under a bridge in Utrecht, and then we played some new songs. A sauna it was, but what a party!
What else is new? Well, we're on Twitter. And you can buy our cd 'A tree in our city' in the nice shops of Plato in Utrecht and Concerto in Amsterdam. Further on, we're gonna do a nice festival at the end of this summer (more info on that soon) and at that time our Onder Invloed-sessions might be online as well.
Enjoy the sun! Chris Gerdien Thomas Rens
Okay... bandmeeting. - 18 May 2009
Chris? Present. Rens? Present. Thomas? Present. Gerdien? Present.
Yes Flight of the Conchords are todays great inspirators! It’s not so bad being in a band called Palloc in comparison to the tough band-life Bret & Jemaine are having in NYC. Though we might need a manager as our gigs list is a little short… ;)
But there’s lots of time for jamming, spicing up our instruments, new keyboards and having fun with the endless opportunities computers give us… Hurray, we’re working on new & fresh material!
Ehh... moving north! - 04 Feb 2009
Groningen - although it's a long ride, it's really worth the effort getting there. Last saturday we played a set in the cozy basement-bar of the Vera and we had a good time. We tried one of our songs for the Onder Invloed session which will be recorded this month, it turned out well, more about that soon!
Upcoming: a gig at Pakhuis Wilhelmina in Amsterdam at Feb 28, together with Pop-outs and indierock veterans Scram C Baby, to celebrate a Radio Mortale party. And, very exciting, we're going to Germany in april. The first gig is already confirmed at the Druckluft in Oberhausen on April 4, together with German electro-duo Monocular. We'll keep you updated.
P.S. Our cd 'A tree in our city' ended up in the 2008 year lists for both Radio Mortale and 3VOOR12/Amsterdam. Yes, we're proud!
Under the bridge - 28 Nov 2008
After one year of travelling to Brummen for our rehearsals (and even more years to Eerbeek - thanks Andre for your hospitality!), we've now got ourselves a place to practice in Utrecht. Under a bridge that is. We're enjoying our new long band sessions once a week.
First reviews on 'A tree in our city' can be read here and here (both in Dutch). Of course you can still order our cd by mail! Furthermore, some gigs coming up in Leiden and Groningen (see our calendar for more details), just make sure you're there! Also, we've been asked to do a 'Onder Invloed'-session, so right now we're working on Palloc-versions of four songs of artists who have influenced our music (well well, which artists would that be?). Recordings are scheduled for january.
Released! - 21 Oct 2008
Thanks to everyone who showed up at our release party last week! We had a great time and enjoyed playing for you. Seemed to us that you've had a good time as well, the 'roze koeken' were quite a succes! We still can't get enough of them, really. If you missed it, or like to re-feel the night's cozy vibe, check these great photo's [1] [2] [3]. You can also find a nice report of the party on the 3VOOR12/Amsterdam website.
For now, we hope you'll play our album once in a while and help increasing our plays on our last.fm. You can order the cd via this website. We'll be busy arranging gigs and spreading-the-palloc-word!
Luisterpaal - 09 Oct 2008
You can pre-listen to all songs of 'A tree in our city' at 3VOOR12's Luisterpaal. The record is on it from today on till monday oct 20. Enjoy!
Like what you hear? Just mail us at order@palloc.nl to order the record for 10 eur (excl. shipping costs). Or you can of course come to our cd release party this friday (costs 10 eur, incl cd!).
Unfortunately, Audiotransparent won't be able to perform at our cd release party. We'll catch up with them some time later on. Luckily the nice folks from Most Unpleasant Men are heading towards Bitterzoet to perform at our party.
3VOOR12 Hollandse Nieuwe - 06 Oct 2008
Every week the nice Dutch music webzine VPRO's 3VOOR12 introduces new Dutch talent as 'Hollandse Nieuwe'. Some nice acts we like earned that title already. This week it was us! We're flattered. You can listen to an interview with Rens here and read about it here.
New website online - 30 Sep 2008
Welcome to the brand new website of Dutch indieband Palloc. Feel free to enjoy our music, take a look at our random pics and find out where our next gig will be. We're also online at LastFM, MySpace and Hyves. And check out our blog at 3VOOR12; it's all in the links section.
Dutch indieband Palloc put together electronics, rare instruments and tension in surprisingly compact popsongs. As Zeal the band toured both in- and outside of the Netherlands and released some well-received e.p.’s. Palloc’s debut album ‘A tree in our city’ was recorded by producer Corno Zwetsloot (a.o. Audiotransparent, Zoppo) and mastered by Zlaya (a.o. Sonic Youth, Motorpsycho and Low for the In the Fishtank-series). The official date for release is 10 oct 2008.
